Growing up in and around my parents’ business, I was aware of how connected we were with the community, especially since we were located in a small town. This has stayed with me over the years, and supporting small businesses, especially within my current community remains, to this day, a priority.
Small businesses are owned and operated by individuals who are passionate about what they do. They have a character, passion and charm that big businesses simply canāt replicate. One of the advantages of small business owners or entrepreneurs is the unique personal story they have to tell. This personal touch gives them a distinct advantage in creating a loyal customer base and establishing connections.
When visiting a small business, you can immediately sense the passion and dedication of the owners. What does a small business look like? It’s a coffee shop, a bakery, an art gallery, or a boutique clothing store, they each have unique personalities that set them apart. Creative entrepreneurs also fall under this umbrella such as designers, photographers, artists, landscapers, florists, chefs, musicians, nutritionists and more!
The personal story of a small business is often rooted in the community. Many small business owners are deeply connected to the neighbourhoods and cities where they operate. They may have grown up in the area or have a strong attachment to its history and culture as well as an understanding of the importance of building long-term relationships with their clientele.
